If you believe you're ready to play

World of Warcraft Classic has been receiving waves of Burning Crusade Classic Gold content updates since launching this past year, tying in with all the material releases for the original game. Blizzard has stated it's"compared" to incorporating expansions to the Classic encounter but no decision has been made.

In the time of writing, WoW Classic is currently on Phase 5 of this PVE content schedule (see below) and the Ahn'Qiraj raid was unlocked so, once you reach maximum level, you'll have access to a number of raids and World Bosses to tackle.

If you believe you're ready to play World of Warcraft Classic, you will want a subscription to achieve that. Unlike contemporary Warcraft that lets you produce as many characters as you enjoy and play them up to level 20 without subscribing, if you're following the vanilla encounter, you will need to put your money where your mouth is. The good news is that once subscribed, you will have access to both Classic and contemporary Warcraft. You can either pay a month at a time or you decide to subscribe for more that will work out slightly cheaper.

Don't expect a miraculous uptick in visual quality -- these ray tracing effects only use to shadows, and that means you're going to find a softer, more realistic areas of darkness when you're making use of the choice. This doesn't revamp the game's whole lighting model, so that you won't get as transformative an effect as in, say, Minecraft's RTX implementation.

If you have been having difficulty getting Shadowlands' ray-tracing to kick on, Blizzard's got any help on the official forums. You're going to want a GPU that supports ray tracing tier 1.1, using the newest drivers, in addition to the May 2020 update for Windows 10 -- also, of course, you'll need to be using DirectX 12.

You can head to the Blizzard website to opt-in to get a chance at beta access, as always.

The folks at Wowhead have caught a load of comparison shots to reveal what people ray-traced shadows seem like. It's a shame WoW ray tracing will not go beyond shadows for now, since the stylised design and easy character models would look incredible beneath the spotlight of exceptionally realistic light.

Blizzard first detailed Shadowlands at Blizzcon 2019. The expansion features five new zones for players to explore, a revamped leveling system which compresses the old you to 60 levels and new customization options, including the option to change the cheap TBC Classic Gold gender of your personality without paying a commission.
